Here in the Midwest, it seems as though winter is in full swing. Our first snowfall of the season came a couple weeks ago and I don’t think anyone was ready for it! I was stuck without my necessities and scrambling to make my fall wardrobe work in the snow and cold. Needless to say, I need to do some serious shopping and restocking of my wardrobe for this season. If there’s any advice we at Leela & Lavender can give you, is to make your versatile and practical pieces work! Here are 3 items you NEED in your closet for winter:
One of the biggest struggles we face during the winter time is the constant temperature changes. Going in and out of the house or shops is tough when you have to be layered in so many different coats, sweaters, jackets, etc. My number one advice is to have outfits for these occasions that can be altered to your environment. Thinner mock necks, light sweaters, and easy tees are some great pieces to add to your closet if you’re missing out on this. You can either choose some basics that can work for everyday wear or a pattern or pop of color to make a statement! Having these layering pieces makes it super easy to wear your favorite cardigans or jackets while being practical!
One thing that is an everyday essential for me is denim. While this may sound like an obvious staple, having good denim that is dependable for the winter is important. Here at Leela and Lavender, we have a wide variety of denim ranging from different price points, washes, and styles. Premium denim is going to have your back through it all! Brands like PAIGE, Good American, and MOTHER denim fall into this category. They have great recovery and are not going to stretch or get “baggy” as we wash and wear throughout the winter. If you prefer to go for a different option in denim, Just Black, KanCan, and Flying Monkey have the softest fabrics and have great stretch. Different washes can be found throughout our premium and non-premium brands, so choose for fave for the season!
Every Midwesterners dream! To have a practical and stylish shoe for the season is almost too good to be true. Personally, my Sorels are my lifesavers! Not only do they pair well with nearly every item in my closet, but they are my go-to for the snow and ice. Sorels have AMAZING traction and are honestly the only shoe that I trust myself with during the winter. Not only that, but the comfort is insane! My Sorels allow me to be on my feet for 12+ hours without any issues. Could it get better than that? There are so many different styles and colors to choose from. Whether you prefer a shoe to wear to work or a more casual piece for everyday, Sorel has you covered! Whatever you choose, you can’t go wrong.
